Long-term absence

There are many reasons why a child may not be able to attend school for an extended period.

They may have become a school refuser, suffering huge amounts of anxiety when they attend school.

There may be a health related issue such as a long term chronic illness, ongoing mental health problems and so on, or issues of family security – all of which lead to long-term absence.

Whatever the cause, there is no reason for your child to slip behind with their education and HFA can liaise with the school ensuring communication is maintained.

Where it is not feasible for the school to provide ongoing work in all subjects, mark and return it to you, HFA can oversee a Home Schooling programme, where tutors provide a one-to-one service.
